Description

Crehana is a learning and talent management platform for companies and individuals to improve performance, culture, and employee development through a catalog of +1000 courses.

Context

I was part of the Apps team, and my focus was on enhancing the learning experience. I was part of projects like Academies, which improved content discoverability, and contributed to performance optimizations that boosted ASO. I also collaborated with engineering to build a scalable, cross-platform Design System.

The brief

I joined the Apps team as a Product Designer to improve the mobile learning experience and contribute to the design system that supports both mobile and web platforms. The goal was to make course content more discoverable and engaging on mobile, identifying performance improvements that would boost ASO, and establish a scalable, cross-platform design system to improve consistency and team velocity.

The Approach

To improve ASO, I proposed reducing the app’s size by replacing background JPEGs with SVGs and incorporated those optimizations into our handoff documentation for developers.

For course discoverability, I led design on Academies. It's a new initiative that emerged from user interviews and competitor analysis. It allowed users to follow learning paths and access more advanced content. This feature led to an increase in engagement, adding an average of 20 minutes to weekly in-app time per user.

For the Design System, I collaborated with the Web Design and Engineering teams to audit our existing component library, extract the most common patterns, benchmark against other design systems and UI libraries, and create our own shared system in Figma and Storybook. I worked mostly on the components for our apps.
